We have survived our first big snow in Providence! Actually, it was great fun. It was predicted to start on Friday after 12pm, and by Thursday afternoon at 3pm almost everything (schools, colleges, offices, etc.) was closed for Friday! With no snow yet! Can you imagine that happening in Maryland?! It started snowing at about 1pm on Friday, and it didn't completely stop until Sunday afternoon, when it finally changed over to sleet and a wintry mix. It was beautiful, and very quiet. I guess since it was a weekend, very few people really needed to go anywhere, so most people just stayed close to home. There was a parking ban in Providence, so there was nowhere to park for people who don't live here, anyway. Although the main roads were plowed on Saturday, they didn't do our street until Sunday evening. Things seem to be pretty much back to normal already, although there were some delays this morning, and the side roads and bridges/ramps can be a bit dicey. Thank goodness most people have 4 wheel drive.
My mom was here visiting, and Jessica's boyfriend Will was here for the weekend, so we had lots of fun together. We finished shopping with my mom before Friday, so we didn't have to go out during the weekend. Jess and Lew gave Terry and me a gift certificate for a couples' massage at a spa in Rehoboth, MA, so we went out for that on Saturday, and it was wonderful! Tomorrow night we are going out to dinner on them, as well, so we are also looking forward to that. The sledding hills at Moses Brown School across the street from us are terrific, and people have been on them almost non-stop since it started snowing. There are lots of pictures here, so I hope you enjoy them! Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to everyone, and we wish you lots of joy and love.
