So, after a week in Paris sightseeing and spending time with family, and then a weekend doing nothing but relaxing at home, I was very sad to have to return to real life this morning. Having to pay bills bummed me out even further. Until I read an article in the Projo (that's our local paper, The Providence Journal)about a family whose baby girl was born 16 weeks prematurely. She spent 7 months in the hospital before she even came home, and now, more than a year later, her life (and her mother's) is primarily a series of doctors' appointments. They are not sure what developmental trajectory she is on, nor whether she will ever "catch up" to the other children her age. Now, the point of this article was that, while more and more prematurely born babies are surviving, they nonetheless often need long-term medical care. But the effect the article had on me personally was to remind me that my problems and concerns really are very small in the grand scheme of things. After all, in this economic climate, I am happy to be returning to my nice warm house, and sending Terry off to his secure job. I just needed a little reminder, I guess.
So, here are the photos from our trip to Paris: Volume I, Volume II, Volume III, Volume IV, Volume V. I want you to know that I culled these from the almost 500 that I took! I also took some video with my camera, but I forgot that, when you turn the camera vertically, you can't change the orientation of the video. Therefore, if you want to watch this hilarious video of Ludo and Lewis doing the pigeon dance on the streets of Paris on the way home from dinner one night, you'll have to turn your computer sideways. Sorry about that.
