So, here I am, hanging out at my sister-in-law's watching football. We slept late (it's amazing how late we can sleep with no dog or cat to wake us up), watched part of the Macy's parade (it's just not Thanksgiving without it!) in bed, and then came downstairs to homemade blueberry pancakes and bacon. We had a fabulous lunch at Miss Shirley's in Roland Park (Baltimore) yesterday with my mom and brother, and went to visit my dad at the VA nursing home. We are all traipsing over to my brother-in-law's house for dinner soon - for our "American" meal of Cuban food! Looking forward to those mojitos.
Really, when you stop and think about it, we have so much to be thankful for. It is easy to dwell on the bad things that happen - heaven knows we all have bad things that happen - but it's important to step back and remember that there are so many people who have less than we do. So, today, be thankful for your health, your family, your friends (even the ones who have kindly shown you what kind of friends they are!), and the loved ones who are here with you. And, judging from the TV commercial I just saw, be thankful that you are not Steven Seagal, who apparently has a terrible new show starting up soon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
