Rock the Ink

Am I the only one who feels like time is just flying lately? I can't believe that we are already in the last week of October, and that this historic election is just 8 days away (not that the media is likely to let us forget that!). I hope that the American public doesn't disappoint me again by proving how dumb they are - just when I am starting to have a little hope. I guess we will have to get through Halloween before I can focus on the election, anyway. Lewis and a friend of his are dressing up as Miss America contestants, so this weekend we had to go out and buy a dress and heels (for Lewis!). I already ordered their sashes online (they will be Miss Nebraska and Miss Wyoming), so I hope they get here in time. The boys are planning to go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, where there are many houses very close together. What a change from western Howard County!

Yesterday, we went to Rock the Ink, a tattoo convention (with music) at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence. There were lots of studios and other exhibitors there, including some artists from as far away as the West Coast, Florida, and even the Netherlands. No, we did not get any new ink, just looking. Ami James and Yoji Harada from Miami Ink were both there; in fact, Ami was one of the organizers of the event. We watched Ami tattoo a contest winner, and we met Yoji, who is actually launching a children's clothing a product line along with Darren (also of Miami Ink), called Ruthless & Toothless. Very cute, you should check it out.

One of the benefits of living across from Brown University's athletic practice fields is that, on game days, the marching band passes right by our house on the way to the Brown University football stadium a few blocks away. So here is a photo of them on their way Saturday morning; I ran in to get my camera while we were stacking firewood in the garage. Despite crazy wind on Saturday night and a little rain (apparently a Sou'easter passed by), yesterday was a gorgeous fall day, and we took Ozzy out for some exercise on the Moses Brown fields. He played with another dog for a little while and we threw his ball for him. So I guess that we really are all adjusting to this fall weather, after all (ok, it's true, I am wrapped in a blanket as I write this. I guess I'm just a lightweight!).
