Old 97's and More

Another crazy week has passed us by! I was in MD briefly Thursday night for an Arbonne client appreciation event, and was delighted to see some of my dear friends and clients there. The event was held at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, and we raffled several wonderful items to raise money for the Kristin Mitchell Foundation, a foundation created to honor the memory of my friend Michele's daughter. Their mission is to educate young women about and raise awareness of the warning signs of domestic violence. It is a wonderful organization, and I encourage you to learn more about it and contribute if you would like. The Arbonne Abundance Region is thrilled that we were able to raise over $500 for this worthy cause. At left is a photo of Michele and me at the event.

Lewis had his first dance Friday night. Five private schools in the area participated, and all the 7th graders attended. I think he had a good time, although he didn't elaborate on the details much, other than to complain about the lack of snack and drink options! We spent most of Saturday morning cleaning out the basement, in an attempt to locate the rest of our jackets and coats. We were able to clear out almost 20 boxes, and we found not only the jackets, but also the missing pillows from the sofa, Jessica's college bedding (we knew it was there somewhere - too bad she already bought more), Terry's tools, and many more things.

After a very late lunch (we got a little entrenched in the basement project), we ran some errands, and then, Saturday evening, my friend Connie (from college) and her husband Doug and their children came to Providence. We had dinner, ice cream, and walked down to Waterfire. It was great to see them, and I'm glad to report that it appears that none of us have aged at all, as you can see. :) Sorry Lew has his eyes closed - I only took one picture, so you'll have to suffer through.

Sunday turned out to be kind of rainy, gray, and cold, so we went out for brunch and then stayed in to watch football (Go Cowboys!). Then, we drove to Boston to see the Old 97's at the Wilbur Theatre (this is a great venue - very beautiful, and very small). The opening act was an old country and gospel singer named Charlie Louvin. And when I say old, I mean old - the man is 81 years old! And he's got a heck of a touring schedule, as you can see from his website. Elvis Presley opened for him and his brother in 1955. Pretty wild! The Old 97's were fabulous. They played for about 2 hours and Rhett Miller was lovely to look at - he's got that pretty boy front man thing just like Jon BonJovi. Murry Hammond (bassist) and Ken Bethea (guitars) signed my CDs at the end of the show, so that made me happy, too. I know, I'm quite the groupie...but I'm good at it! I hope you are having fun doing things you like to do, too.
