Home Improvements (part 2)

Well, the good news is that the tile in the kitchen and the mud room is completely finished! Just in time for my mom and brother to come visit. These are photos of the kitchen and the mudroom prior to renovations. The kitchen tile was sort of off-white, and this was the linoleum we discovered under the beige berber carpet in the mudroom. Ozzy felt like wandering into the picture, but you get the idea. It was truly ugly, I can see why they covered it with berber carpet. But trust me when I tell you that it was time for the carpet to go.

So, the new tile looks infinitely better, plus the two rooms actually go together now, which makes sense, since they are adjacent to each other, just separated by a couple of stairs. Below are the after pictures.
The tile really is all the same color, it's sort of a light beige, which goes remarkably well with the kitchen backsplash. We had it laid on the diagonal, and I think that makes the rooms look much larger. Yes, we know that a toe kick needs to be installed under the cabinets in the kitchen; we're working on it. However, we are very happy with how it turned out. Next week, our tile guy is coming back to do the fireplace hearth and surround. Meanwhile, in case you were wondering, the gates for our fence have still not come in. It's getting very frustrating. I am hoping that they will be installed next week, as well. More to come!
