Self-Improvements...
There is no news on the house front (no, the gates for the fence are still not in, it's pretty annoying), but in an effort to better myself (and meet some people), I went to a yoga class this morning! It was at Yoga One in Seekonk, MA. It was very different than I'm used to, because it was Hot Yoga. This means the studio is hot and humid and you sweat a lot. A lot. Like I'm really glad I followed the recommendations on their website and brought a drink and a towel. Because without the towel, my sweaty self would have been slipping around on my mat. It was a great class, challenging (especially since I haven't done yoga in many months) but not impossible. But, I have to say that it is a miracle that I can type, because lifting my arms in any way is not a comfortable proposition. Driving home was an adventure. I think, just maybe, that there were way too many downward dogs for my out-of-shape self!
In the same self-improvement vein, I have also been trying to embrace my curly hair and appreciate it more. It seems like there are many more people in RI who let their hair do its natural thing. It seemed like in MD/DC, many (most?) curly-haired women straighten their hair. So, after many internet searches and review-reading, I decided not to do the Bio-Ionic thing again, and I found a hairstylist who specializes in cutting curly hair, Dawn Periquito. She not only cut my hair but gave me several suggestions for its care. I am no longer using shampoo with sulfates or Frizz Ease (did you know that silicone-based products dry out your hair?), and have switched to the Jessicurl product line. Not only is it working (see silly self-timer photo at right), but I love that the products go along with Arbonne's philosophy, as well, since they are botanical, vegan, and cruelty-free. My husband cannot understand how anyone can spend so much time and energy researching and thinking about their hair. All I can say is, if you don't have curly hair, I guess you cannot understand.

If I had a dollar for every minute I spent researching hair products online...
I've also been attempting to embrace my curly hair, but it can be so uncooperative! (Yours looks fantastic, by the way.)
Can't wait to see you and the fam over all break!
Hi Laurie
So interesting to hear about your life. It sounds fun. We are loving our adopted town, and things are going well for we old folk. Tory and I are off to kick a leg at Canyon Ranch. I love our times together.
Love to you all
June
